The Honorable Stephen A. Zappala Sr.

Justice Zappala is remembered for his active and productive membership on the Allegheny Regional Council of the Governor's Justice Commission in the 1970's. May God give rest to his soul and comfort to his family.

I'm so sorry to hear of the passing of Justice Zappala. I had the honor and privilege of working as one of his secretaries, before I moved to Texas several years ago. He was always so friendly and down-to-earth, regardless of the prestigious position he held. My deepest condolences to the entire Zappala family.

I was very sorry to hear about the passing of your Dad and husband. I have nice memories of him while growing up in Regent Square. He was always so friendly to all of the neighborhood kids and interested in how we were doing. He has left a wonderful legacy for you his children and grandchildren.

It is with much sadness that we learned of the passing of Mr. Zapalla. Some of the best memories were growing up with the Zapalla family summertime in Conneaut. Mr. Zapalla was a great influence and I will always remember fondly sitting on his deck overlooking Lake Erie and discussing politics.

Dear Steve and Mary,
Jim and I extend our condolences to you and your family on the passing of your father. We remember fondly the years we shared with your parents and you while living in Regent Square. I am sure you know how well respected and liked he was and what a wonderful legacy he left for all of his family. Our thoughts and prayers will be with you in the coming days ahead.

I had the opportunity to serve with Steve for several years, and although we did not always agree on every issue, I believe we both enjoyed the debates.
My dinners out with him and the late Ralph Cappy were always very enjoyable as we traversed a myriad of issues and traded off many stories.
We now reside in Arizona full time, so it will be impossible to appear to extend our thoughts to the family in person.

I remember my Dad would tell great stories about he and your Dad when they were at Central. Especially story about basketball.

They were friends all through their lives. What a wonderful gift for them both.

Your father was and always be a magnanimous person. You have been his legacy and you will continue to walk in his footsteps with dignity and pride. Cherish your memories and the lessons he bestoed on you.

Our thoughts and prayers to the entire Zappala Family. What an amazing legacy Mr Zappala has left for future generations. His faith and the strength of his family are a testament to the true nature of a wonderful man. As friends to his daughter Dana, her husband Pat, and their two girls, Alana and Dominique, we can say without a shadow of a doubt that the values that he instilled in his family are evident in the way that they treat others. Mr Zappala, along with his beautiful wife, cultured some of the kindest and most loving people that you could ever hope to meet. We can only imagine how much of a loss his death will be to his loved ones. Rest in Peace Mr Zappala and thank you, not only for your service to our country but for creating a family that makes the world a better place.

Our condolences to the entire Zappala family. He was truly a charismatic, intelligent and funny man. So happy that we were able to share dinners out with him and Phyllis when we were in Florida.

Not only was Chief Justice a big man but he had a giant personality and heart.
I had the great opportunity to work with the Justice and I enjoyed so much having the opportunity of spending many days and times together. I share the family's loss and grieve with them. A huge void by his loss.
