Mr. Sterling Lee Cassetty, age 85, of Franklin, KY, passed away on Monday, April 8, 2024 at his residence.

Visitation will be held on Friday, April 12, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM at Gilbert Funeral Home & Crematory. Funeral services will be held the same day Friday, April 12, 2024 at 3:00 PM at the funeral home with interment to follow in Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin, KY.

Sterling was born on February 7, 1939 in Simpson County, KY to the late Clarence Cassetty and the late Lura Belle (Edwards) Cassetty.  He is also preceded in death by a daughter, Camille Norwood; a grandson, John Wesley Gregory III; a great-grandson, Hayden Gregory; 3 brothers, C.J. Cassetty, Bobby Cassetty and Ross Cassetty; and 1 sister, Nancy Smith. 

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Sue Cassetty; 2 children, Cathy Dillard (David) of Franklin, KY and Steve Cassetty (Sharon) of Franklin, KY; 6 grandchildren, Michelle Beck (Matt), Steven Gregory (Chassity), Carrie Cassetty, Steven Cassetty II, Daisy Dillard and Emma Dillard; 7 great-grandchildren, Alexis Gann, Ethan Beck, Lincoln Beck, Rileigh Gregory, Levi Gregory, Gracie Gregory and Cole Gregory; 1 brother, Edward Earl Cassetty (Rosie) of Okeechobee, FL

Sterling was a 1958 graduate of Franklin-Simpson High School. He was a veteran of the United States Army.  Sterling worked for the United States Postal Service in Franklin, KY.  He was a member of Franklin Church of Christ.  Sterling loved family, friends, fishing, and farming from his childhood.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to Hospice of Southern Kentucky, 5872 Scottsville Rd., Bowling Green, KY 42104.  Envelopes will be provided at the funeral home.
