Sterling C. Murdock, a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 14, 2025, at the age of 76. Born on July 13, 1948, in Chadron, Nebraska. Sterling's life was a testament to hard work, resilience, and an unwavering connection to the land.
Raised amidst the rolling plains of Nebraska, Sterling developed a deep love for ranch life, working cattle from a young age and fostering a lifelong respect for the values of responsibility and dedication. His passion for working with heavy equipment became both a career and a calling. Whether shaping the land or building for the future, Sterling found immense pride and joy in his work, leaving behind projects and memories that will endure for generations.
Sterling’s love for the open skies, the hum of machinery, and the rhythm of rural life defined him as a man who cherished simplicity and purpose. His strong hands and kind heart shaped not only the earth he worked but also the lives of those who were fortunate enough to know him.
Sterling was preceded in death by his parents, Sterling Austin and Evelyn Marie Murdock, and his brother, Doug Murdock. He is survived by his sister, Joyce Walker, and her husband, Vic Walker, as well as many loved nieces and nephews.
He is also survived by his children: daughter Leigh Ann Stinnette and her husband, Steve Stinnette; son Dameon Gilfillan; and son Sterling C. Williams and his wife, Tanya M. Williams. Sterling’s greatest pride was his grandchildren: Stevie (Jacques) Grobler, Branson (Tay) Stinnette, Zane Gilfillan, Ethan S. Williams, Austin C. Williams, and Olivia M. Williams. He was further blessed with three great-grandchildren: Charleigh, Sterling, and Andre Grobler, who brought him immense joy and laughter.
Sterling's legacy lives on in the countless lives he touched, the values he instilled, and the memories he created. He will be deeply missed by family, friends, and all who were blessed by his warmth, wisdom, and unwavering spirit.
