Sterling Maxine Stubelfield, also known as Peaches or Baby, passed away peacefully on the morning of November 1, 2025. Peaches came into the world on November 15, 1949, the youngest of 3 girls born to Joseph James and Maxine Loretta Stubelfield.
She was baptized at Greater Pentecostal Church when she was 10 years old and remained a member there until she became a member of Rejoicing Temple Church of God in Christ.
Peaches Graduated from Sumner High School and while in high school she started working for a doctor's office. Working at that Dr's office made her realize really like taking care of people and decided to attend Donnelly College to become a nurse.
Peaches was a devoted mother, grandmother and friend, raising 2 biological children and helping to raise and nurture a host of children she held dear to her heart. She cherished family and she proved this by retiring from being a nurse after 36 years to become a full-time grandma making it clear that "These babies are not going to Daycare because we don't know those people" and what a grandma she was. If she wasn't teaching the babies to count, teaching them their manners or teaching them how to pray before they went to school or got in a car, she was sitting on the porch admiring the birds or pointing out the squirrels or singing the babies song, making up her own of course She set the foundation for her children and grandchildren and for many other children that came to love her, and when you saw her, you saw those children.
Peaches loved to sew, and she often made her kids clothes along with making clothes for children to model in community fashion shows. She also loved flowers and so today we gave this beautiful person her flowers.
Peaches is survived by her children, daughter Reshonda Stubelfield-Tyler (Alfred), son Joseph Stubelfield, her nephew who she dearly loved and took care of for years, Albert Stubelfield, her grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of family, extended family and dear friends.
She is proceeded in death by her son Victor James, her mother and father Maxine and Joseph and sisters Helen Joan White and Florence Everette.
Ms. Peaches, Baby, Momma, Grandma, Big Grandma, Nurse and Friend. These were her many titles and she will be missed by many.
