Sterling Thompson McKinney

Sterling Elizabeth Thompson McKinney was born on February 3, 1975 in Kerrville, Texas to Thomas Norris Thompson and Dana Ann Shaheen Thompson. She was carried away by angels to rest in the arms of Jesus on September 12, 2025.

Sterling grew up in Junction, Texas. She was a lifelong member of Trinity Episcopal Church serving as an acolyte and later on the Vestry Committee.  She graduated from Junction High School in 1993. Before graduation she was crowned Miss Kimble County, and Hill Country Fair Association Rodeo Queen.  Sterling went on to attend UTSA in San Antonio where in 1994 participated in the Miss Texas USA Pageant at South Padre Island, Texas. She later returned to Junction and after the birth of her three beautiful children, attended Schreiner University, Kerrville.

Sterling’s greatest most treasured achievements were the birth of Sarah Elizabeth Thompson, Quince Thomas Lawler and Landry Ireland Lawler, to whom she passed on her great love of Tennis. More than anything she loved watching their many tournaments. Sterling was ecstatic to become a grandmother to London Elizabeth Coulston.

She will also be remembered for her entrepreneurial spirit as a successful business owner, more recently BB’s Food Truck where she introduced the public to her Lebanese Cusine.  Sterling later received her Real Estate License where she was employed by Homestead Ranch and Real Estate in Junction. She followed her lifelong dream to move to Rockport, Texas and was employed by Key Allegro Luce Properties in Rockport.

In addition to her engaging smile, her joy and her unprecedented passion and determination for living. Sterling will be also be remembered for her community works and helping those in need.

Sterling is survived by Sarah (Edward) Coulston, Quince and Landry Lawler; granddaughter, London Elizabeth Coulston; mother, Dana Thompson; aunts and uncles, Mary and Elba Adams, Deborah and Matt Markee, Victoria Shaheen, Greg Shaheen; sisters, Tana Magdelano, Falcon Thompson; cousins their spouses, great-nephews, and numerous great-aunts and great-uncles.

She was preceded in death by her father, Thomas Thompson, and great-grandparents, Tex and Ginny Shaheen of Junction; and uncle, F.E. Shaheen III.

A Memorial Celebration of Life will be held 2:00 PM, October 11, 2025 at Trinity Episcopal Church in Junction, Texas. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity Episcopal Church of Junction or your favorite charity.
