Steve Breen, 80, of Beaumont, died Sunday, December 22, 2024. He was born on August 16, 1944 to Helen Goldstien and Irving Breen.
Steve attended Junker Elementary, Dick Dowling Junior High, and was a Beaumont High School graduate with the class of 1963. He was employed by Beaumont Housing Authority for 27 years.
A man of many interests and lifelong collector of many things. Everything had a time and season along the way. Bottle caps, matchbooks, military patches, stamps, tools of all kinds, locks, keys, and more. His hobby in his final years was spent collecting cartridge brass at the Golden Triangle Gun Club. He was a regular fixture at Carmela's, his favorite restaurant.
A great wit and dry sense of humor. He was a man with a kind, gentle soul; a friend to all he met. Spent many years on a daily walk down Phelan Blvd rain or shine and wore out several pairs of shoes over the years logging thousands of days and no telling how many miles. He had had a mind like a steel trap. Steve never forgot the date of an event-birthdays, anniversaries for all family living or past. A favorite uncle to his many nephews, grand-nephews, and nieces and grand-nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents Irving and Helen Breen.
Survivors include his brothers, D. Neil Breen and his wife, Susie, of Lakeway, Texas, and Harry M. Breen and his wife, Joyce, of Fairview, Texas, along with his many nephews and nieces.
Memorial contributions for Mr. Breen may be made to Salvation Army, 2350 I-10 East, Beaumont, Texas 77703 or Temple Emanuel, 1120 Broadway, Beaumont, Texas 77701.
A graveside service for Mr. Breen will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, December 26, 2024, at Hebrew Rest Cemetery, 2219 Pine Street, Beaumont, under the direction of Broussard's, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont.

Hi Steve, You will be missed so much and so often. You amazed everyone with your elephant memory. All facts, once they were known by you, were never forgotten. You remembered things told to you about people that you had never met. We will never eat Mexican food again without thinking of you. Steve, safe travels... Love you, Jeff and Linda
