Steve Michael Dillard, age 48, of Dillard, Georgia, passed away unexpectedly on September 20th at home, leaving behind cherished memories and a family who loved him dearly.

The son of Myrtis Conley Dillard and the late Edward Rush Dillard, Steve was born on January 25th, 1977. He graduated from Rabun County High School in 1995 and continued his education at North Georgia Technical College where he earned an Associate of Applied Technology Degree. Following that, he earned both a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Business Administration at Piedmont College; however, Steve was a life-long learner and engaged in self-directed studies well past his college days. He had a particular interest in history and related historical works while continuing to further his expertise in computer technology as well.

A story-teller by nature, Steve filled the room with his laughter and tales from past adventures. From cross-country travels as a young child, to winning the Jackpot Bingo for his dad on a family Disney Cruise, to recalling jokes and anecdotes from his older brother, Jack, to sharing the triumphs and mishaps of his gardening hobby -- Steve always found a way to weave humor and warmth into every conversation. These intimate moments of connection and laughter were among those he cherished most.

Steve was also an avid fan for the University of Georgia football team and could recite from memory statistics on every single player and potential recruit. There was almost nothing he loved more than a spirited debate on the current state of the program, and it was a passion he shared with anyone willing to listen. What Steve loved most, though, was his family and his home. Despite having opportunities to pursue a career elsewhere in the state, he chose to remain in Dillard to be near those he cared for the most. After the passing of his father in 2020, Steve felt a deep responsibility to look after his mother and did everything in his power to ensure she felt safe, protected and cherished.

In addition to his mother, Steve is survived by his son, Christian Dillard, of Brooksville, Florida; one sister, Janet Dillard of Dillard; two brothers, Claude Dillard (DeeDee) of Dillard and Marty Conley (Melinda) of Toccoa, Georgia; 10 nieces and nephews and 4 great-nephews. Steve was preceded in death by his father, Edward Dillard; brother, Jack Conley (Angie) of Lawrenceville, Georgia and great-niece, Paisley Grissom of Cornelia, Georgia.

Details regarding the services for Steve will be announced at a later date.
