Steve Doss

Steve Doss, 72, of Goldsboro, North Carolina, passed away on Friday, December 26, 2025. He was born May 14, 1953 in Roanoke, Virginia to the late Aubrey Clyde Doss and Dorothy Robertson Doss.
Steve was a 21 year veteran of the US Air Force and met and married his wife, Charlene, while stationed in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, then lived in Panama, Utah, and Colorado before settling in North Carolina. After retiring from the Air Force, he had a second career as an IT professional with Sprint.
Steve's greatest joy was spending time with family. He liked gardening, hunting, fishing, bird watching, working with computers, vacationing with his wife and family, and watching his grandchildren learn and grow.
He is survived by his loving wife of forty-seven years, Charlene Doss; three children, Jason Doss (spouse Jennifer and stepson Evan), Kelly Doss (partner Adam), and Erin Culbertson (spouse Grant and three children [Eileen, Cassie and Charles]); his brother, Larry Doss; and two sisters, Kathy Young (Ronnie) and Susan Doss.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Rebecca Doss Morris, and sister-in-law, Donna Smith Doss.
The family will receive friends for a time of visitation from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 9, 2026 at Seymour Funeral Home. A service to celebrate Steve's life will follow at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel. Services will conclude at the Eastern Carolina State Veterans Cemetery.
A remembrance of Steve will also be held in Roanoke, Virginia at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Steve's memory to the National Audubon Society or Arbor Day Foundation.
