Steve Drum Obituary

Steve Drum

February 21, 1942 - September 29, 2023

Steve Wilson Drum, 81, passed from this life to be with his Lord in heaven on September 28th, 2023, at Carolina Caring House.

Steve was born on February 21, 1942, in Newton, North Carolina to Evelyn Jordan and Thaddeus Dail Drum. After graduation from Bandys High School in 1960, he attended Appalachian State, but was forced to leave early due to a sports injury. His work history centered around the furniture industry as owner of Drum Furniture Supplies.

Steve and his dad shared a love of breeding and training Field Trial Beagles beginning in the early 1970's. In 1975, Steve had his first National Field Champion with Drumline Polly. There were four more National Field Champions to come.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Mary Shelton Bolick Drum, his three brothers Richard, Robert, Joseph Drum, and his sister Brenda Drum Webb and their special chihuahua, Sweet Caroline of Camelot.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, October 4th at 10 a.m. at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor Chris Webb officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Endowment Foundation of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Hickory, North Carolina.

The family would like to express their immense gratitude to the staff of Carolina Caring Catawba Valley Hospice House in Newton, North Carolina.
