Steve Alan Garrett, a man whose zest for life was as boundless as the Texas skies under which he was born, passed away on December 7, 2025, at the age of 69. Born on December 22, 1955, in Seminole, Texas, Steve's journey through life was one characterized by spirited adventure, courageous endeavors, and a heart full of laughter. He departed this world as he had lived in it, with a sense of peace and surrounded by love in
Odessa, Texas.
Steve's life was one of dedication to the things he loved most. His beloved wife, Troylan (Williams) Garrett, was the center of his universe. The pair shared an unbreakable bond that was evident to all who knew them. His brother, Joseph William Garrett III, and his brother in God, Isaac Bateman, also played significant roles in his life. Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph William Garrett II and Mary Lou (Hopper) Garrett, and his brother, Royce Glen Garrett, who all left indelible marks on his heart.
A graduate of the school of hard knocks and the streets, Steve's education extended far beyond the classroom. His work as a driller in the oilfields was an early chapter in his storied career, but Steve was never one to be confined to a single path. He pursued odd jobs with gusto, each new role offering him the flexibility to stay close to what mattered most: his family and his passions.
Steve's need for speed was legendary. His motorcycle was not just a vehicle but an extension of his adventurous spirit. Friends and family often heard his tales of the open road, each one more captivating than the last. "Know what I mean?" he would say, his eyes twinkling with the thrill of past rides.
Yet, for all his daring, Steve was a cautious man, one who measured risk with the precision of a seasoned adventurer. He was the embodiment of a life well-lived, one that inspired others to chase their dreams with the same fervor.
Steve's humor was a gift that he shared generously. Making people laugh was his forte, and his stories were the highlight of any gathering. His presence alone could lift the spirits of a room, his laughter infectious and his wit sharp as a tack.
Next to his wife and his motorcycle, Steve's love for chocolate pies was unparalleled. He indulged in the sweet treat with the same enthusiasm with which he approached life itself.
Describing Steve as spirited, adventurous, and courageous only scratches the surface of the man he was. He lived each day to the fullest, embracing the unknown with a bravery that many aspire to but few achieve. His legacy is one of love, laughter, and the indomitable spirit that defined him.
As we bid farewell to Steve Alan Garrett, we celebrate a life that was as rich and fulfilling as the stories he loved to tell. His memory will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to have known him, and his tales will echo in our hearts forever. Rest in peace, dear Steve, your journey was truly one of a kind.
