Steve Heun, age 65 of Nemaha, IA, passed away at his home on Monday, May 1, 2023. Steven Elmer Heun was born on September 12, 1957, in Wisconsin. Steve was adopted at the age of seven by Joseph and Ellen (Grunig) Heun of Sac City. The family lived in Sac City throughout Steve's childhood. He graduated from Sac City High School in 1977. Steve was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Sac City.
On August 1, 1981, Steve married Judy Kay Moeller at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. This union was blessed with three children: Joseph, Andy, and Brian. Together they raised their family in Nemaha, IA. Steve worked at IBP in Storm Lake and then for a few year at VT in Sac City before starting his own lawn care business. He offered lawn care, spraying, tilling, and snow removal for the people of Sac County for over thirty-five years.
Steve loved being outside. He always planted a large garden that kept he and his whole family busy throughout the summer months. He enjoyed fishing, trapping, and coon hunting with his boys. Steve liked to tinker on things to keep him busy in his free time. The family didn't take many long distance trips together but the time they all went to Florida made for some great memories that they will hold near and dear to their hearts. Steve was a pretty simple man who was friendly to all he crossed paths with. He was proud of his children and grandchildren and spending time with them is what gave him the greatest joy. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his wife, Judy Heun of Nemaha, IA; sons Joe (Leslie) Heun of Underwood, IA, and Brian (Amanda) Heun of Early, IA; grandchildren Hayden and Hunter Heun of Underwood, IA, and Charlotte, Colton, and Brooks Heun of Early, IA; several other extended family members and many friends.
Steve was preceded in death by his son, Andy Heun; parents Joseph and Ellen Heun; parents-in-law Dean and Sharon Moeller; brothers-in-law Mark, Jeff, and Gary "Moe Moe" Moeller.
