Steve “Pa” J. Leonard, 92, a native and resident of Golden Meadow called home by Jesus on Monday, July 14th, 2025.
Mr. Steve is survived by his daughters: Gwen L. Douvillier (Ruel); grandchildren: Christopher Cole (Emily), Joseph Douvillier (Amanda), Megan Adams, Andrew Adams (Adia); great grandchildren: Caleb, Wyatt, Ruel, Ben, Eli, Renée; special nieces: Marcy, Roxanne, Anita, Lera, Lola and Kelly; brother in law: Carroll Collins; and sister in law: Joyce W. Leonard
Mr. Leonard was preceded in death by his loving wife of 64 years: Vergie Collins Leonard; daughter: Jamie Leonard Adams; grandson: Shawn “Big Shawn” Cole; parents: William Sr. and Anita B. Leonard; siblings: Leander “Buck” Leonard, Dr. James Leonard, William Leonard Jr., Neva Jambon, Angelique Canalizo, and Vergis Haley.
Mr. Steve lived his life for Jesus and was an evangelist spreading the word of God to wherever God sent him. He was totally devoted to the love of his life, Vergie, and took her to every appointment and spent many days and nights at her bedside. He enjoyed his job taking care of the grounds and equipment of the country club and had many fond memories of spending the day with Johnny Moran and Big Shawn.
Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation at the First Baptist Church of Golden Meadow on Wednesday, July 23rd, 2025 from 8:00 am until service time. Mr. Steve’s Funeral Service will begin at 10:00 am with procession following to his burial in Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Cemetery.
