Steve Anthony Madjor, 94, died peacefully on December 18, 2025 at RWJ Hospital in Hamilton.

Steve was born on December 19, 1930 in Manhattan. He spent his early life in the upper east side where he graduated from Haaren High School. Steve went on to City College of New York, where he graduated with a degree in Electrical Engineering in 1953. While at CCNY, Steve played football and lacrosse. Following graduation, he enlisted in the Army Corps of Engineers serving at Fort Belvoir, VA until 1955 and being honorably discharged as a Specialist Second Class. Upon his discharge, Steve moved to Astoria, Queens and began a long career at Western Electric/AT&T.

Steve married Mary (nee McLean) in Toronto in 1962 and they settled in Elmhurst, Queens, before eventually moving to Succasunna, NJ. Steve retired from AT&T in 1985 after 30 years of service. He continued working in the telecommunications industry in New York City until September 11, 2001, when he formally retired and settled in Yardville, NJ.

Steve's life was the quintessential American story. Born to Croatian immigrants, he was a highly motivated person at a young age. Education and the pursuit of knowledge were gifts and remained tenets throughout his life. He shared this passion with those he loved and was always eager and willing to engage people in a healthy debate. Steve enjoyed good food and drink, mentoring family and friends, reading, and supporting the Giants, Yankees, and Rutgers. He introduced his family to soccer, the beautiful game. Steve's core values were family, tradition & honor.

Despite the good fortune Steve, his children, and grandchildren enjoyed, he never lost sight of his humble beginnings and the plight of the working class and new immigrants. He was appalled by the treatment and neglect that persists towards these groups today.

Steve is survived by his two sons, Anthony (Denise) and Christian (Angela Vann) and his three grandchildren, Cecilia, Magdalena, and Luka. He was predeceased by his former wife (Mary), sister (Antoinette), and parents (File & Luka). Steve was beloved by and enriched his extended family in the Hamilton area (Huck, Carroll & Panella), Canada (McLean), Croatia (Lozica & Silic), and his dearest life-long friends, John & Betsy McMahon and Marty Lynch.

A family memorial service will be planned for a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to www.safepassageproject.org.
