Steve J. Martin Sr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother, passed away peacefully on January 3, 2025, in New Albany, Indiana, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Corydon, Indiana, on March 14, 1956.
He leaves behind his devoted wife, Donna Martin, with whom was his childhood sweetheart. Together, they created a warm and welcoming home filled with laughter, love, and a shared passion for family. Steve was proud of his children, Steve J. Martin, Jr., Jamie A. Martin, and Lisa Marie Martin, as they grew alongside him in a home steeped in affection and dedication. His legacy lives on in their hearts and the hearts of his grandchildren-Amber (Brian), Kaycie, Brooke (Matthew), Dalton, Camron, and 12 great grandchildren-who fondly remember the special moments shared with their papaw.
Outside of his cherished family, Steve was a man of simple pleasures devoted to taking care of his family, who found happiness in his animals, spending countless hours in his garage restoring his 65' Ford Fairlane, due to his love of old cars. He also enjoyed to fish from time to time.
Steve's proudest accomplishment was undoubtedly his family. This was the driving force in his life, the foundation upon which he built his relationships, and the essence of who he was. His family will forever hold him close to their hearts, a guiding light in all their endeavors.
He is preceded in death by his beloved son, Jamie A. Martin, who remains in the thoughts of those who loved him. Steve is also reunited with his parents, Jake Martin and Linda Armstrong, his brother, George Martin, and his sister, Wendy Scalf, all of whom he will carry with him in spirit.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, January 12, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM and again on Monday, January 13, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southern Indiana, located at 3309 Ballard Ln, New Albany, IN. A funeral service will follow on Monday, January 13, 2025, at 1:00 PM, with a burial to follow at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park in New Albany, Indiana.
As we remember Steve, let us carry forward his spirit of love, kindness, and devotion, ensuring that the legacy of familial bonds he nurtured continues to thrive among us all. He will be deeply missed but forever cherished in our hearts.
