Steve Mortensen Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Skinner Funeral Home - Shell Lake on May 8, 2025.
Steven Duane Mortensen, 74, of Webster passed peacefully at home on May 5, 2025. He was born September 26, 1950, in Washburn County, WI to James and Lillian (Houts) Mortensen. He was married in New Richmond on June 17, 1977, to Darlene Rivard.
Steve was someone you could rely on when there was something mechanical that needed fixing. Although, he was never too busy for a coffee break. He enjoyed spending time outdoors fishing and cutting wood. Steve had a soft spot for animals; particularly his cat Molly and black labs.
Steve loved spending time with his family and giving them reasons to laugh and roll their eyes.
He is survived by his wife, Darlene Mortensen; sons: Daniel Mortensen, Laverne (Lindsey) Mortensen, and Troy (Cindy) Beebe; daughter, Kris Beebe; grandchildren: Garrett Beebe, Jasmine LeBrun, and Regan Belisle; great grandchildren: Lily, Jackson, Asher, and Magnus; siblings, Jim Mortensen, John Mortensen, Bonnie Moser, Ernie Mortensen, Helen Jean Mortensen, and May Mortensen; nieces, nephews, and many friends. Steve was preceded in death by his father, Basil (Helen) Mortensen; mother, Lillian Houts; brother, Dean Mortensen; sister, Connie Smith.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Saturday, May 17, 2025, at Salem Lutheran Church in Shell Lake with Pastor Cathy Reuter officiating. Burial will be in Lake Side Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10-11 AM.
Skinner Funeral Home of Shell Lake is serving the family.
