Steve Eugene Phelps, 86, of Sherwood passed away January 21, 2025. He was born in Malvern, Ark. on October 10, 1939 the son of the late Corbitt and Ruby Phelps. Steve was preceded in death by his sisters Mary Hinkle, Betty Hightower and Carol King and brother Charles Phelps as well as his partner for over 50 years Jack Crossan. He is survived by his sister Ginger Phelps and brother David (Evie) and numerous nieces and nephews. Steve was an active member of the 1 Christian Church of Sherwood.
Steve graduated from Malvern High School and attended Evangel University in Springfield, MO and was also a veteran of the US Army. Steve held numerous jobs including owning his own florist in downtown LA for over ten years. Once moving back to Arkansas he and his sister enjoyed flea marketing traveling around central Arkansas looking for treasures. Steve was loved by all who met him. He was kind, caring, generous to a fault, funny and always willing to help anyone in need. He was the historian in the family remembering all bygone relatives and friends and could recount stories about each one. Steve loved old movies and having lived in South Pasadena for over 30 years he knew or met many of the old movie stars. Steve had a special place in the hearts of both his family and friends. He will be sorely missed.
Memorials may be made to the 1 Christian Church of Sherwood, 2803 E Kiehl, Sherwood, AR 72120.
