To the family, many, many friends, and fans of this great person who played an defensive end for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Steve White was a former NFL defensive end for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers who later became an NFL blogger for SB Nation. He had a wonderful career in football. May you find comfort in your wealth of fond memories together with Steve White. May the God of comfort bless your grieving hearts with strength, loving kindness and peace as the world copes with the loss of Steve White.

To Mr. White's child, who is a beloved former student of mine. I am so sorry to hear of the passing of your dad. You were one of his biggest accomplishments and priorities. I remember when he walked you in to Meet the Teacher Night and gave me many pointers (and school supplies!) on how to ensure you had a successful school year. I had no idea he was a man many knew - to me, he was always just your dad - and he took that job seriously and did it well. His care and concern for you was clearly evident and has always been memorable to me (after having thousands of students' parents) because he was a dad who was present and active in his child's education. With me, he spoke only of you and your education, and you were the center of his world. Anything I learned about your life beyond our classroom you told me, as we would chat walking from class to other parts of the building, throughout the school year. I have often wished so many of my other students were blessed with a dad who was involved like yours was, but now I wish you and your family were not robbed of the man that loved you so much. My own dad died of cancer when you were a student in my fifth grade class. He was 54 and it breaks my heart knowing your dad was even younger when you guys were forced to endure the nightmare that follows a cancer diagnosis. You cheered me up on some of my saddest days, just by being you. I wish I could do the same for you. I think of you often and remember you as an all-around brilliant person who was wise beyond their years, thoughtful of others, upbeat through everything, and a person who was good and pure at their core. A picture of us at your fifth grade graduation, which you gave me as a gift at the end of the school year, is in a spot I still see every day. I look at it and wonder how you - that one-of-a-kind kid who made me smile and laugh during my time of sorrow - are doing. You were such an insightful, intelligent, thoughtful, and memorable student. I am very sorry for this loss of yours. If you ever want to contact me, Google Principal and my name, then call my school and listen to the automated message to select my extension. Or, email me using the link on my school's website. Please take care and remember that your dad loved you and made you his priority. Love, Ms. Erin, your fifth grade teacher.
