Steven Joe Bapp, age 70, of
Lerna, IL, passed away at 5:19 a.m. on Wednesday, January 24, 2024 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana.
Services honoring his life will take place at a later date. Schilling Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Steven was born on January 17, 1954 in
Effingham, IL, the son of Donald Eugene "Bones" Bapp and Rosemary Ellen (Whitley) Schwerdt. He married Janis Lynn Bapp on October 31, 1985. She preceded him in death on March 6, 2023.
Survivors include daughters: Kara E. Bapp of
Mattoon, IL and Lisa J. Bapp of Schererville, IN; grandchildren: Kyanna (Reese) Jones of
Charleston, IL, Ayden Irizarry of
Mattoon, IL, Amaya Morris of Schererville, IN, and Maxwell Morris of Schererville, IN; and several siblings.
Steven was preceded in death by his wife.
Steven was a truck driver for many years and always had many stories to tell about his travels. He absolutely loved fishing and loved teaching his daughters and grandchildren how to fish. Steven loved his motorcycle and would ride it every chance he got before he wasn't able to anymore. He loved spending time with his grandchildren. Steven will be greatly missed.
