Steven "Steve" P. Bilodeau, 70, passed away peacefully on August 22, 2024, surrounded by his wife and daughters at his home in Smyrna, Delaware.
Born to Arnold and Dorothy Bilodeau in Cortland, NY, Steve graduated from McGraw Central High School in 1971 and went on to earn a Bachelor's degree in Criminology from Bryant College in Providence, RI.
In 1978, he joined the NY State Police, where he served with Troop C, retiring after 32 years of service to his community. Among many commendations, he was named New York State Trooper of the Year and Lawman of the Year.
Steve loved golfing, the Yankees, and his family, typically in that order. He had many lifelong friends, some of whom he genuinely liked. Both of you know who you are.
He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Sharon (Dexter) Bilodeau, his two daughters and their families: Kim and Eamon Spiegel and Theresa and Wendell Covell, and his grandsons Owen, Jonah, Drew, and Reid. He is also survived by his mother Dorothy Bilodeau, his siblings Renee Bilodeau and Dennis Bilodeau, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
There will be a celebration of life on August 29th, 2024 from 4 to 7 in the evening at the Port Watson Mini Conference Center at 131 Port Watson St., Cortland, NY.
