Steven Knox Brandon, age 69, of Brighton, MI, passed away peacefully on December 11, 2023. Born in Detroit, MI, on October 18th, 1954 to his loving parents L. Knox Brandon and Colleen (nee: Hestetune). Steven leaves behind a legacy of warmth, generosity, and dedication.
He is survived by his wife, Susan, of 38 years with whom he shared a lifetime of love and companionship and his sisters Julie (Tom) Rhode, Katie Conroy and Amy (Brian) Robson.
Steven's devotion to family extended to his children, Rachael and Matthew. He was an amazing father-in-law, forming special bonds with Hunter and Kylie, and in recent years, proudly stepped into the role of grandpa to his adoring granddaughters, Blake and Leighton.
He is preceded in death by his parents Knox and Colleen and brother Patrick Brandon.
Steven attended Western Michigan University, where he cultivated lasting friendships and laid the foundation for a successful career in the commercial insurance industry. With over 40 years of service, he became a trusted figure, forging deep connections with clients who became cherished friends. His commitment to his work was surpassed only by his genuine care for those around him.
Steven's love was not limited to humans alone; he had a soft spot for his canine companions over the years, showering them with affection a warm lap and a treat.
Outside of work and family, Steve enjoyed playing golf, planning family trips, and spending time at the family's special place, the house on Lake Charlevoix. He was a proud WMU alum, cheering on the Broncos while also lovingly rooting for the Michigan State Spartans with his kids.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to be made to Steve's favorite charities: Gleaners Community Food Bank of Livingston County, Leader Dogs for the Blind, or the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. These organizations held a special place in his heart, reflecting his compassion for those in need and his love for animals.
Friends may visit Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 340 North Pontiac Trail, Walled Lake (3 Blks. S. of Maple Rd.) Sunday 2-6 PM. In this time of sorrow, let us remember Steven for the joy he brought into our lives, the kindness he shared, and the love that will endure in our hearts forever.

I met Steve at Harrison HS. We spent at lot of time at Gordy's house and on the wrestling team. Steve's nickname was "Fred". He was frequently the sane one of our group. He was a loyal and great friend that you could share anything with. I wish I could remember more of our time together but in those days. I consider myself blessed to be able to call him a friend! He will be sorely missed.
