Steven (Steve) Dwayne Brookins, beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, unexpectedly departed from this world on April 10, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of laughter, love, and cherished memories.
A visitation for family and friends will be Sunday, April 14, 2024, at Gray Memorial Chapel, 4378 Gray Highway, Gray, Georgia at 6:00 PM. A graveside service will be Monday, April 15, 2024, at Cedar Ridge Cemetery, Greene Settlement Road, Gray, Georgia at 11:00 AM with Steve Kitchens officiating.
He was 57. Born in Milledgeville, Georgia, on December 12, 1966, Steve was the son of the late Patsy Griffin and was preceded in death by his stepmother, Cathy Brookins. Steve's vibrant spirit and magnetic personality endeared him to all who knew him. With a heart as big as his smile, he brightened every room he entered.
Steve's zest for life was infectious. He had a natural gift for bringing joy to those around him, whether through his quick wit, his love for the outdoors, or his adventurous spirit. An avid fisherman and hunter, he found solace and joy in the beauty of nature, always eager to share his passion with others. Known as the life of the party, Steve had an outgoing nature that drew people to him effortlessly. His presence could turn an ordinary gathering into a memorable celebration, leaving laughter echoing in its wake. Yet, amidst his gregarious nature, Steve possessed a deep sense of devotion to his family.
For thirty years, Steve was the devoted husband of Tammy Brookins, his anchor, through life's ups and downs. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished moments. Steve's greatest joy was found in the loving embrace of his daughters, Linsey Joiner (Ross) and Lacey Cauley (Trenton), and their children, Daxton, Makenzie, and Lathan. His love for them knew no bounds, and his legacy lives on in the hearts of his family. Steve is also survived by his brothers, David (Barbara), Kevin (Teresa), Troy (Tori), his sister Crystal Moore, and his father, Amos Gene Brookins. He leaves behind a host of cherished family members, friends, and loved ones who will forever hold him dear in their hearts.
The family will kindly accept flowers in Steve's honor. The family may be reached at Lacey Brookins home at 406 Turner Woods Road, Gray, Georgia 31032. Gray Memorial Chapel is honored to be entrusted with the care of the Steve Brookins family. Those who wish to offer condolences or share memories are invited to visit graymemorialchapel.com. Though Steve may have departed from this world unexpectedly, the light of his spirit will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who knew him. May his laughter, love, and joyful spirit bring comfort to those who mourn his loss.
