Steven Ernest Brunson

Steve Brunson, 53, of Albany died Wednesday. Born in Albany to Robert and Erma (Henschel) Brunson, Steve was raised in Millersburg and graduated from South Albany High School in 1977. Steve moved to John Day and worked for the forest service. While in John Day he met Mary Shanley, who he would marry in 1985 in Evanston, Wyoming. Together they had moved to Wyoming where Steve worked in the oil fields as a tester. They had a daughter, Mellisa, and returned to Millersburg in 1986. Steve began a career with the City of Salem Road Department, and after several years there worked for a time laying underground cable. Anything Steve could do outdoors, he would. Unless NASCAR was on. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and swimming, and bike rides with his granddaughter. Steve liked picking berries and then turning them into jam. Survivors include his wife Mary of Albany; daughter Mellisa Brunson of Albany; son Tony Satell of Albany; granddaughter Maizy Schaeffer; father and step mother Bob and Shirley Brunson of Millersburg; brothers Rob of Millersburg & Rick of Albany; step brothers Steven Radcliff of Spokane, Dale Morris of Lebanon, and Glen Morris of Wenatchee. Steve was preceded in death by his mother Erma. A celebration of Steve's life is planned for Sunday September 8th at Millersburg Park. Potluck will be at noon.
