Rehoboth - Steven M. Cambra, affectionately known as Steve by those who knew him best, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 22, 2025, at the Waterview Villa Nursing Home. Born on February 4, 1966, in Providence, Rhode Island, Steve was a man of intelligence, handiness, and adventure. His life was a testament to the joy of exploration and the satisfaction of working with one's hands.
The son of the late Donald F. and Cecelia (Tavares) Cambra, Steve grew up with a deep sense of family and community. He was a cherished brother to Cynthia Hamzo and respected brother-in-law to Murat Hamzo of Warwick. He leaves his uncle and Aunt James and Mary-Jane Tavares and many cousins. His family will remember him as a pillar of strength, a source of wisdom, and a man who could always be counted on.
Steve dedicated many years of his career to A&H Manufacturing of Johnston, where he honed his skills as a machinist. His precision and attention to detail were not just aspects of his work; they were traits that defined him. His colleagues respected him for his knowledge and his willingness to lend a helping hand whenever it was needed.
A lifelong Rehoboth resident, Steve was deeply rooted in his community. He was a former parishioner of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, where he found spiritual nourishment and a sense of belonging. His interests were vast and varied, reflecting the richness of his character. An avid reader, he found joy and escape in the pages of books, which allowed him to explore worlds beyond his immediate reach.
Music was another of Steve's passions, serving as the soundtrack to his life's many moments. His love for restoring classic cars was more than a hobby; it was a way of connecting with history and preserving the beauty of craftsmanship. Steve's ability to fix and understand anything mechanical was legendary, and his adventurous spirit was often expressed through the projects he undertook and the challenges he embraced.
Those who knew Steve would describe him as a man who was not only intelligent and handy but also adventurous. He never shied away from a challenge and lived his life with a curiosity that was both inspiring and infectious. His legacy is one of perseverance, creativity, and the pursuit of knowledge.
As we say goodbye to Steven M. Cambra, we celebrate a life well-lived, full of passion, commitment, and love. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
