Steven Hutson Dunn

Steven Hutson Dunn, of Houston, Texas passed away in the early morning of March 28, 2023, after battling frontotemporal dementia. He was 63.
Steven is the youngest of three siblings born in 1959 to D. Camille and Ralph Orace Dunn Jr., of Houston. He graduated from The Kinkaid school in 1977 and attended the University of Texas, Austin where he graduated in 1982. Steven graduated from Baylor college with his medical degree in 1987 and completed an internship in Ophthalmology in Detroit, Michigan, before becoming a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology in 1991.
Steven worked as an ophthalmologist with his father, Dr. Ralph Dunn and his uncle Dr. Rodney Hutson, both in separate practices, before joining Vision America in San Antonio. In 2001 Steven settled into practice at Houston Eye Associates, serving his patients in general ophthalmology. Steve touched many lives with his medical and surgical aptitude, but also through his spiritual guidance, and philanthropic endeavors.
Steven's love for Texas led him to a small ranch in the Texas Hill Country, Vanderpool, Texas, where he would spend time with cows, bulls, longhorns, and eventually too many donkeys. Steve owned a fleet of ranch equipment, and spent time moving dirt, clearing cedar, building roads and other mixed ranch projects. One of his mottos was "It sure beats paying a therapist!".
Steven married Melynda in January 2004, and they were blessed with Camille Marie in November 2004 and then Molly Jane in February 2008.
Steve is predeceased by his father, Ralph Orace Dunn, Jr., M.D.
Steve is survived by his loving wife, Melynda and their children, Camille Marie and Molly Jane; his mother, D. Camille Dunn., J.D., Houston; his Brother, Rod and wife, Julie, Albuquerque, NM and their sons; Rodney and wife, Emily, and daughter, Grace Ann, Albuquerque, NM; Andy Dunn and his wife, Lindsay, daughter, Leela and son, William, of Parker, C.O., Christopher Dunn and his wife, Loren and their son, Samson, Albuquerque, NM; his sister, Alix Camille Dunn, Houston.
We thank our friends and so many families, near and far, who have supported us through prayers, tears, smiles, laughter and memories and last, endearing love and support.
A funeral service will be held at Second Baptist Church, located at 6400 Woodway Dr., on Thursday April 6th, at 2:00 p.m. Immediately following, there will be a celebration of life on the patio at Carrabba's on Woodway.
