Steven E. Fleury, 77, of Marinette, WI, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 31, 2024 at Bellin Hospital in Green Bay, surrounded by the compassionate care of hospice. Born on January 29, 1947 in Marinette, Steven was the beloved son of Edward and Beverly (Palmateer) Fleury.
Steven spent his later years residing at Rennes-East in Peshtigo, WI after living in various group homes throughout the Marinette area. He found joy and purpose through his long-term involvement with Goodwill Industries, where he engaged in piece work, craft activities and numerous outings with friends. His enthusiasm for life extended to his participation in the Special Olympics, where he proudly showcased his awards in bocce ball, bowling and other events to his family.
A man of faith and music, Steven delighted in attending Bible study groups and ringing bells in the Bell Choir. He passion for music was evident in his love for dancing, particularly to polkas and the tunes of Lawrence Welk.
Steven cherished time with his family, especially during the holidays. Christmas was his favorite, filled with laughter, delicious food and cherished family traditions, like his Uncle Ron's rendition of "I Just Go Nuts at Christmas." Summers were equally joyful, spent picnicking, boating and playing in the water with his adored nieces.
In his final years at Rennes-East, Steven formed deep connections with the staff and activity directors, enjoying bingo, crafts, classic movies and music. He treasured the moments spent with family, whether through visits or phone calls.
Steven is survived by his loving sisters, Paula (Craig) Vieth of Wausaukee and Holly (Guy) Laukaitis of Marinette; his two nieces, Keri Brooks of De Pere and Melanie Bell of Montrose, CO. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Beverly Fleury.
A memorial service celebrating Steven's life will be held at Hansen-Onion-Martell funeral home on Saturday, January 25, 2025. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. followed by the memorial service at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Keith Kolstad officiating.
