Steven Eugene Fox passed away suddenly on August 28th, 2024, at the age of 74 surrounded by his loving and devoted family.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Banks and Rachel Fox, sister Linda Fox, brother Michael Fox and Ronnie Trent.
Steve was born in Statesville, North Carolina, on May 20th, 1950. Raised in Reidsville, North Carolina, he attended Wentworth High School prior to enlisting in the United States Army.
While in service, Steve was a Crew Chief, responsible for helicopter repairs, maintenance, and general keeping of his assigned aircraft and weaponry.
After completing his training at Fort Bragg, Steve would go on to Fort Rucker and Fort Belvoir before being stationed in Geissen, Germany.
A pillar of his community, Steve spent the majority of his civilian life in Reidsville. From the Midway Market to the Wentworth Car Wash, each and every single one of his businesses were focused on providing genuine service to his friends and neighbors, often assisting those in the community who could not afford to pay him. Steve helped those in need without ever expecting a thing in return. He drove many who were sick to doctors appointments, bought groceries for those who couldn't feed their families and consoled those in his community that had lost loved ones.
Steve was kindhearted, loyal and he was loved fiercely by those who knew him.
Steve leaves behind a full family as he is survived by his wife Mazzie, daughters, Cindy Mourer, Ellie Cook (Dean), son Lee Fox, very special niece Rachel Bray, grandchildren Bill Mourer, Zach Mourer, Rachel Fox, Ella Fox, Drew Cook and Grey Cook. His brother David Fox and wife Nancy of Willow Springs. And his sweet little pup, Layla.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 31st, from 6 to 8pm. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, September 1st, at 2pm at Wilkerson’s Chapel. Interment will follow at Evergreens Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the family would very much appreciate stories from those who knew and love him.
