Steven “Scott” Goetz, age 61, of Madison passed away on December 24, 2023 at UW Hospital due to complications from leukemia.
He was born on November 23, 1962 in Fairfax County, Virginia, the son of Roger and Joan Goetz. He married Cathryn Gies on August 12, 1989 in Stevens Point.
Scott attended UW - Milwaukee and UW - Stevens Point. He worked for most of his career in restaurant management, most recently as an owner/operator of several Culvers restaurants.
Scott enjoyed golfing, boating, fishing and snowmobiling. He especially enjoyed fishing trips to Canada with family members and friends. Winter trips up north snowmobiling were his favorite part of winter. In recent years, he became interested in iceboating and helped run races on the lakes. Tuesday “boat nights” with other members of the Four Lakes Ice Yacht Club were very special to him.
He was preceded in death by his father Roger Goetz, sister Laurie Goetz and niece Jennifer Casey.
He is survived by his wife Cathy, son Sam, daughter Madeline, his mother and step-father Joan Goetz and James Cizauskas, his two sisters and their husbands Debra and Mark Nelson and Sarah and Mark Westmoreland, his brother and his wife Brad and Patty Goetz and many nieces and nephews.
Special thanks to the compassionate caregivers at the Carbone Cancer Center and the Trauma and Life Center at UW Hospital, https://www.uwhealth.org/philanthropy.
Please share your memories of Scott here on his Tribute Wall.
