Steven Grieb Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Phillips-Robinson Funeral Home - Nashville Chapel on Mar. 4, 2026.
Steven "Steve" Everett Grieb, age 67, passed away peacefully at his home in Cottontown, Tennessee, on March 1, 2026. Born on October 01,1958, in Tuscola, Illinois.

He spent his early years in Illinois, later making his home in Colorado during his middle years, before relocating to Tennessee in 2020, where he spent his remaining years. Steve was a graduate of Unity High School in Tolono, Illinois. In his younger years, he worked in farming, developing a strong work ethic that stayed with him throughout his life. He later built a career in carpentry and construction, eventually working for Martain Marietta Materials. Steve took pride in working with his hands and building things that would last. He had a passion for horsepower and the open road. Steve loved NHRA drag racing and proudly raced in Sweet 16 and Elite 8 competitions. He was also an avid rider of Harley-Davidson motorcycles and lifelong fan of John Wayne, whose grit and independence he admired. Above all, Steve valued family, friendship, and loyalty. Steve also leaves behind his beloved and loyal best friend, his dog Milo, who rarely left his side.

He is preceded in death by his parents, H. Everett Grieb and Anna Mae Grieb.

He is survived by his loving wife, Eileen Miya Grieb; his son, Drew Steven Grieb; his stepchildren, James Thomas Newman (Lisa) and Jeremiah Lee Newman (Amy); and his cherished grandchildren, Midori Newman, Xavier Newman, Kaden Newman, and Damien Newman. He is also survived by his siblings; Linda Ponder, Sandra Schaefer (Jim), Rick Grieb (Sonya), and Rodney Grieb (Tabitha); his aunt, Patricia Grieb; and his nephews, Nick Ponder (Joie), Jarred Ingram, Josh Ponder (Heather), and Braeden Grieb. He was a proud great-uncle to Grady Ponder and Makynlee Ponder. Steve will be deeply missed by his lifelong friends Kevin, Brian, Tony, Corey, and Christian, along with many extended family members and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held on March 7, 2026. Cremation arrangements are being handled privately.
