He then went on to coach at RHS for the boys' junior varsity team and after three years became the boys' varsity coach. In 1986, he moved to become the assistant men's coach at Kutztown University followed by assistant women's coach. While at Kutztown, he served as Assistant to the Athletic Director for Student Development and Compliance and volunteered as color commentator on football and basketball broadcasts. Steve retired in 2013.
Steve was inducted into the Kutztown University Athletics Hall of Fame in 2017. The 1973 RHS team was inducted into the RHS Athletic Hall of Fame in 2018. He was a member of the Reading Berks Basketball Association and received its Distinguished Achievement Award in 2021.
He was proud to have participated in the "6:30 softball league" pickup games at 13th and Union School playground. He was a fixture at 3rd base.

Steve was simply a great guy, While I was a professor at Kutztown, I got to know Steve fairly well. Nobody knew sports like Steve did. He did so much for the university and for the basketball teams. He will truly be missed. RIP Steve.

Steven,
Was one of the greatest person I´ve ever had the pleasure of working with and knowing. His caring personality, loyalty, love of people was admirable and his greatest trait. He greeted everyone with a smile and was always approachable.

May you rest in peace my dear friend!

Coach Hahn was admired by many. He was a caring and exceptional coach who made a lasting impact on his players and those he encountered. His legacy and devotion to KU basketball will be deeply missed but never forgotten. Til we meet again.
