Steven Hatch “Big Steve”, 69, peacefully passed away on the morning of Friday, June 27, 2025, in his hometown of Farmington, NM. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sherman and Laura Hatch, as well as his sons, Kevin Sanchez and Shane Hatch.
Steven was born on October 12, 1955, in Salt Lake City, UT. Steven was raised by both his parents, Sherman and Laura Hatch, where he grew up at Hatch Trading Post, UT. He had a unique childhood growing up at Hatch Trading Post, where he continuously helped maintain the property, from working on fence lines to feeding and caring for the various animals they raised on the property. He took full advantage of growing up on the Trading Post, where he truly loved to hike the hills and hunt. Steven was a member of the US Army, where he was a very proud graduate of the 82 nd Airborne Ranger Division “Paratroopers” out of Fort Bragg, NC. Post Army, Steven continued his passion for guns and shooting throughout his life. He lived and breathed hunting all year round, possibly obsessed. He enjoyed the outdoors so much, camping, fishing, and loved doing these activities with his family by his side. Steven found his career in the oil industry as a pipeliner, where he retired after 40 years of service.
Steven Hatch was survived by his loving wife, Linda Hatch, an exceptional marriage of 44 years, also survived by his son Steven Hatch Jr and daughter Megan Hatch, along with his grandchildren Brandon Sanchez, Aubri Hatch, Ariah Hatch, Jordan Sanchez, Ashton Sanchez, Aiden Hatch and his little buddy Avaya Hatch.
Visitation will be held on Friday, July 11, 2025, from 6-7:00 pm, at Farmington Funeral Home, 2111 W. Apache Street, Farmington, NM.
A Celebration of Life to Honor Steven Hatch will take place July 12, 2025, at 1:00 PM at the First Presbyterian Church, 865 North Dustin Ave, Farmington, NM. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens with a reception afterwards at the church.
