For 20 years, Steven served as a Sales Manager at American River Auto Wrecking, demonstrating his exceptional work ethic and commitment to excellence. Following that, he spent 15 years as a flatbed truck driver for Metal Sales Manufacturing. Driving was more than just a profession for Steven; it was one of his proudest accomplishments. He relished the freedom of the open road and often described the sheer joy he felt while behind the wheel.
Those who knew Steven will remember him as a loving and committed husband to his wife, Debbie Hawkes, and a devoted father to his daughter, Leah Mesbah, and son-in-law, Andy Mesbah. His warmth and humor brought immense joy to his family and friends. Steven had a witty nature and an infectious sense of humor that remained with him until the end.
In his leisure time, Steven enjoyed many hobbies that brought him fulfillment. He loved playing the guitar and taught himself to play, showcasing his determination and passion for learning. Steven also had a keen interest in fitness, working out, and honing his skills with a speed bag. Additionally, he was a member of the El Dorado Gun Club, where he excelled in tactical shooting scenarios. He cherished moments spent camping- particularly under the night sky, where he found tranquility in stargazing. He often captured beautiful photographs of the sky during his travels, especially when he was in the desert. Watching sunrises while on the road was an experience he always cherished.
Steven is survived by his beloved family, which includes his mother, Betty Hawkes; sister, Laurie Hulin and brother-in-law, Shane Hulin; father, Phil Hawkes; stepmother, Teresa Hawkes; and brother, Nicolas Hawkes, along with sisters Christie Lynn and Caitlyn Gunderson, and their respective husbands; Tom Lynn and Ken Gunderson.
