Steven Edwin Johnson, 81, of Westminster, Massachusetts, passed away on December 1, 2025. Born on September 14, 1944, in Worcester, Massachusetts, Steve was the son of Swedish immigrants, the late Alfhild (Blahd) Johnson and John Johnson. Steven was predeceased by the love of his life, and wife of 54 years, Maureen (Flathers) Johnson. Together in life and in death, Steve passed away on the first anniversary of Maureen’s death.
Steve taught for over 40 years at the Montachusett Regional Technical Vocational School in Fitchburg, where he also led the drama program and taught driver’s education. A skilled craftsman, he loved building everything from home additions to dollhouses. He enjoyed working on cars, especially his 1964 Cadillac Fleetwood, and cherished time with his family. He spent many summers on Long Lake in Maine, and he was an avid runner, sharing the road with his longtime friend, Frank Moryl. Steve was active in the Lions Clubs of Harrison, ME, and Westminster, MA, often serving as an officer, including as the District Governor for Maine.
Steve is survived by his children, Kristina (Justin) Barclay, Timothy (Kelsey) Johnson, and David (Shannon) Manza; and his grandchildren, Malcolm and Elsa Barclay, Rice, Anna, Owen, and Quinn Johnson, and Samuel and Zoe Manza. Steve was predeceased by his beloved daughter, Melissa (Johnson) Manza.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Steve’s name to the Westminster Lions Club, P.O. Box 618, Westminster, MA 01473. A celebration of Steve’s life will be held at a later date.
