Steve was my best friend and I miss him terribly . We met a year ago and talked for an hour or much more daily . I got to see him for 24/7 -5 weeks this summer and thanksgiving . He enlightened my life with his refreshing and quirky sense of humor . His love of sports and his cubbies and bears was contagious . I even got him to like my Saints ! I can hear him in his referee voice he would greet me on the phone daily during baseball season saying his famous Strike!!!! I brought my
Dog eleanor to see him for thanksgiving taking her 963 miles in the car cause steve adored her . He showered her with affection and treats and then more treats . We had to go back 2 days in a row to the Edwards Apple orchard for treats for Eleanor . Im so glad we did this trip now, Eleanor and I looking back . Steve really cared about people and it showed in everything he did . I remember hearing how he spoke even to his business customers and checked in on them . His humor brightened my day wether it was his continuous voice imitations , funny made up sayings or love for Seinfeld he got me back into watching. His love for his mom , son and entire family was deep . I regret I live too far away to be at the memorial today , but my thoughts and heart were with his family today and everyday as they go through this very difficult time . I was blessed to know Steve and will never forget him . My love and prayers to his family I met , his mom Cherry , siblings Laura ( Jeff ) and Pete and nephews and great nieces and nephews . And love and prayers to his son Jared and wife I never met but Steve spoke about often and was so proud of always .

Very sorry to hear of Steve's passing. I have been a friend of Steve's for many years. He was my salesman when i was in the hvac business. We became friends soon after that. Steve was a lot of fun to be around. We shared many games of golf. He will be missed.

Steve was a very good high school friend. One of the nicest guy I ever met. Steve always had a smile on his face and never said a bad thing about anyone. I got to know him as a teammate playing basketball my freshmen year at West high school. He was an amazing basketball player and had the highest basketball IQ of any player that I have ever known. I haven't seen Steve in years but my heart is heavy with the thought of his passing. Gone to soon he will be missed. God bless my friend.

Steve was a friend and classmate from R.K. Welsh Elementary School to Roosevelt Junior High School to Rockford West High School and into college at Western Illinois University, where we were freshman roommates.
Like so many of us, we could go years without seeing each other, but nothing could deter our friendsjip. We shared an amazing childhood, which I shall never forget. Rest in Peace, Steve.
