Steven Lynn Linder, affectionately known as Steve, passed away peacefully at his home in Coweta, OK, on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at the age of 55. He was born on June 30, 1970, in Smithfield, MO to Orrin Lee “Bud” and Viola Eilene (Hemmerling) Linder. Steve's life was a testament to his unwavering spirit and the joy he brought to those around him.
Steve was a 1988 graduate of North Kansas City High School, where he discovered his passion for baseball, a sport he excelled in and continued to enjoy throughout his life. His love for sports extended to watching baseball and cheering on the Atlanta Braves. He also found pleasure in fishing, bowling, and nurturing his impressive hot wheel collection.
In 1986, Steve embarked on a career in jewelry sales, starting at Krigel and later working at Kay's, Zales, Helzberg, and Moody’s. His charm and genuine care for customers shone through in every interaction, making him a beloved figure in the industry. After a successful career spanning over three decades, Steve transitioned to a role as an operator at Rural Water District 4, where he dedicated the last three years of his career.
Steve's heart was full when he married the love of his life, Marsha Ann Foster, on August 10, 2014. Together, they created a home filled with laughter, love, and cherished memories. Steve was a devoted husband, a loving father, and an adored grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Marsha Foster of the home in Coweta, OK; his children, Amber Martin (Zach) of Tulsa, OK, Jacob Foster of Coweta, OK, and Ashlynn Gregory (Kyle) of Maud, OK; his grandchildren, Tinsley Martin and Roston Martin; and his siblings, Debbie Mathison of Blue Springs, MO, Timmie Linder of Morgantown, WV, Carolyn Totsch of Orrick, MO, and Diann Stolz (Stephen) of Lawson, MO. Steve's legacy also lives on through his nieces and nephews, Scott Holt, Garrett Wagner (Lauren), Jerry Wagner, Justin Wagner (Alex), Brad Linder, Angela Vissia (Joel), Mindy Thorne (Dennis), Lauren Linder, Marissa McBee (Cody), Heather Richardson, Shawn Richardson, Autumn Stolz, and Evan Stolz, as well as numerous great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Orrin Lee "Bud" and Viola Eilene Linder, and his nephew, Damion Linder.
Known for his generosity and kind heart, Steve was a very giving person who loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. His presence was a source of comfort and joy to all who knew him.
Visitation for Steve will be held from 12:00 - 8:00 PM on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at Brown Funeral Home in Coweta, OK, with the family present from 6:00 - 8:00 PM to receive friends and loved ones. A service celebrating Steve's life will take place at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, at Lone Star Baptist Church in Coweta, OK, with Pastor Adam Mask officiating. Steve will be laid to rest at Vernon Cemetery in Coweta, OK.
