Steven L. Maynard, a longtime resident of the greater Nashua area, age 74, died peacefully on Saturday, April 2, 2022 after a brief illness, with his beloved wife, daughter and family holding his hands.

Steve was born and raised in Nashua, NH, as the eldest of ten children of Lucien and Ellen Maynard. He was a proud graduate of the University of New Hampshire in 1970 and an even prouder graduate of the University of Colorado-Boulder Law School in 1974.

Having lived in Amherst for over 20 years, he had recently relocated to Portsmouth, NH. He was a respected member of the New Hampshire bar and a well-liked and esteemed lawyer based in Nashua for many years.

Steve was much too modest to have wanted others to read of his many achievements, adventures and escapades. He was a good and decent man with a sharp intellect, a playful sense of humor, a spirited love of sports, a fondness for very strong coffee, and a lot of soul. He leaves many friends, former colleagues and family members to grieve his death but also to feel privileged and grateful for having known and loved him.

He is survived by his wife and best friend, Kathleen Casey Maynard of Portsmouth, NH; his daughter and son-in-law, Callan and Tim Sullivan of Lee, NH and his granddaughter Zoe. Steve is also survived by siblings Jim Maynard (and Sharon Elliot) of Nashua, NH, David and Patricia Maynard of Hollis, NH, Mary and Russell Arrowsmith of Amherst, NH, Sue and Jim Babineau of Lisbon Falls, ME, Kevin Maynard and Cindy Mugnier of Belchertown, MA, Beth and Fred Lamb of Nashua, NH; niece Danielle Casey and Sam Alsop, and also many many in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends. Steve was predeceased by his parents; his son Jonathan; and his brothers, Peter, Mark and Christopher.

Calling hours will be held at the FARWELL FUNERAL HOME, 18 Lock Street, Nashua on Sunday afternoon, April 10th from 4 to 6 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Elizabeth Seton Church, 190 Meetinghouse Road in Bedford, NH, Monday morning, April 11th at 11 o'clock. To see Steve's smiling face makes me cry, and also smile.
I do miss him. Growing up together, and becoming great friends was a blessing. Always a Friend, a professional, a gentleman, always there for me personally, or business wise. We shared many memories together. I lost my Son, as Steve did----Never Healing ! Finally know peace my Friend !

What a wonderful man. I´m honored to have known Steve. Our world is diminished by his absence. It´s rare to have among us someone who is willing to stand up to those who would diminish us. May we all be inspired by him. I will always fondly remember the guy. His willingness to do battle always impressed me. May we have may more Steven Maynards willing to man the front lines. Take care, my friend.

I met Steve ( Musky ) when i was 12 years old, as we all hung around Jeannotte's market and Holman Stadium. Played sports together, and enjoyed each other's company. We were fast friends forever, and as life went on, Steve became my personal and Corporate lawyer---the best of the best. Our sincere condolences to his wife and family.
We will miss him tremendously.
