Steven Nemmers passed away on March 12, 2025. After 45 years of marriage with his wife, Sheila Nemmers, a testament to enduring love and unwavering commitment and was filled with immeasurable joy. We built a beautiful life, raising two wonderful children, Aaron and Stefani. These are years filled with cherished memories that we will always hold dear.
Steve was born in Denver, Colorado, where he spent his formative years surrounded by a large and loving family—his six siblings, Mark, Susan, Barbara, Beverly, Gary, and Bill Nemmers.
Even as a young man attending East High School, Steve’s adventurous spirit led him to serve his country in the Navy, aboard the USS Kitty Hawk during the Viet Nam era. This experience undoubtedly shaped his character, instilling in him a sense of duty and a profound appreciation for life's adventures. After his naval service, he found his way to Iowa, where he joined the Midnight Riders MC and, more importantly, met the love of his life, Sheila.
Steve worked in the Environmental Industries business and was the Director of Safety with certifications from the Colorado School of Mines.
Beyond his military service and family life, Steve was a man of varied passions. His love for all sports was legendary. His connection to Denver, its sports teams, and its spirit remained deeply woven into the fabric of his life.
He inherited a lifelong devotion to the Denver Broncos from his parents, who had season tickets since the team's AFL days. The legacy of watching the Broncos, from their AFL origins to their success in the NFL, spanned generations in our family. His fervor for basketball was equally ardent; he followed the Denver Nuggets since their ABA days, and his passion extended to coaching, and sharing his love of the game with others.
Steve possessed a remarkable ability to connect with animals. He had a gift for calming even the most apprehensive creatures, and he found immeasurable joy in their companionship. In his later years, Steve discovered a passion for photography, capturing the beauty of Colorado's mountain landscapes. He loved exploring the majestic scenery, his camera always at the ready to immortalize nature’s splendor.
This is just a small glimpse into the life of a remarkable man. I want to honor his memory by sharing this with you and celebrating the extraordinary life we all shared with him.
