Steven Frederick Parks passed away peacefully at his childhood home in Clinton, Maryland, where he spent most of his life.

Steven was born in Texas on May 23, 1974. Steven was a kind, sensitive, and extremely generous person. He was a free spirit and considerate of everyone. After his father passed away in 1992, he stood by his mom’s side. Steven graduated with the Surrattsville High School Class of 1992. Steven loved his family more than anything else in the world, including his mom, dad, sister, niece, nephew, and uncle, who meant everything to him.

Steven knew Jennifer since he was a teenager and was married to her. As a husband, he did more for her than anyone; he was always there for her and helped her care for her mom. He was a reliable partner, and he was always there to cheer her up in rough times. As an uncle, Steven spent many weekends with his niece and nephew and cared about them as if they were his own children. As a nephew, he held his uncle dear and they shared a good friendship.

Steven had many friends he maintained throughout his life. He could make anybody laugh with his silly yet witty sense of humor. He had a fun-loving personality that matched his good looks. Despite their changing walks of life, Steven kept in contact with his friends. Steven worked as an Electrician for J&J Electric for 19 years. He was meticulous with his habits and went to work consistently every day. He set his clothes out for work before he went to bed at the same time each night. He considered his boss, Warren, a father figure and spent time with him outside of work, often going to Ocean City and seeing live bands with him.

Children were drawn to Steven. He had the ability to be playful with them while still treating them with the same respect as adults. Steven shared his mother's love for animals and held a special place in his heart for cats and dogs, who also adored him.

Steven was very artistic and loved to express himself. This is clear to anyone who knew him: as a teen, his room was plastered with posters that gave you an idea of who he was, and in recent years, you would know this by his Instagram account. He would reinvent his look regularly and always had his own unique style. He grew a COVID beard and took great care of it.

Steven loved skateboarding and its entire subculture. He had a particular love for the era of Dogtown, Alva, Peralta, and Jay Adams. Steven loved Star Wars and collecting its memorabilia as keepsakes. He also collected Kiss memorabilia, various action figures, ‘70s and ‘80s lunchboxes, limited edition Vans, Air Max 90s, amongst other collectibles. He also loved movies and shows, usually horror or science fiction, that he would purchase at Best Buy the day they came out.

Most of all, Steven loved music. He loved to rock out on his guitar but could turn around and bust out break dancing to a funky beat. He had a very eclectic taste in music and loved many bands that spanned many genres from metal to hip-hop to much more. Steven always said that music is the soundtrack of our lives, and if he ever sent you a song, there was a message in there for you.

He leaves behind to cherish him, his nephew Douglas Ngo, his niece Dominique Ngo, his uncle Phil Brown, Jennifer Alsop, and many other beloved friends and family. He is predeceased by his parents Sangob and Wayne, his sister Mimi, and other close family and friends.

We invite you to express your love and memories for Steven in the guestbook. Details regarding his celebration of life will be provided soon.
