Steven C. Payer, 65, of Norwood, Colorado, passed away on April 19, 2025, at his home due to complications of lung cancer.
Inurnment will take place at a later date.
Steven Craig Payer was born in Sioux City, Iowa on September 17, 1959. In October 1959, Steve was adopted by Jerome and Bernice Payer. He lived with his family in Pocahontas until they moved to a farm near Belmond in 1964. He attended Belmond Community School until his senior year, when the family moved to Mason City. Steve graduated from Mason City High School in 1978.
After graduation, Steve started his working career at Manly Ready Mix, working at the family business. He then moved on doing various careers which included over the road semi-truck driver, caretaker at ranches and parks, and house painting. Steve loved dogs and always had one at his side. He also loved fishing, camping, and being outdoors.
He married Lynda Reibsamen, his soul mate, on July 24, 1995, in Arkansas. To this union, T.J. (Thomas Jerome) was born on June 18, 1997. T.J. passed away on June 19, 1997. Steve and Lynda's travels took them to Rogers, Arkansas and Cottonwood, Arizona where they lived for several years, before making their way to Norwood, Colorado where they purchased their acreage.
Steve was preceded in death by his son T.J. Payer; parents Jerome and Bernice Payer; in-laws Judy and Roger Reibsamen; nieces Sabrina Reibsamen; and nephews Patrick Reibsamen and Brian Eckhoff.
He is survived by his wife Lynda of Norwood, Colorado; sister Connie (Jim) Eckhoff of Belmond; brother Richard Payer of Mason City; Lynda's siblings; and numerous nieces and nephews.
