Steven Dwayne Potter

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Steven Dwayne Potter, who left this world on Friday, December 26, 2025, at the age of 62. Born in Bakersfield, California, Steve later found his home in Paragould, where he built a life filled with hard work, service, and love.

Steve embraced life with an unwavering work ethic and a heart full of service. He was a dedicated wrecker operator at Rudi's Towing, a job that resonated with his lifelong passion for hard work. He had a relentless work ethic and was the kind of guy who spent his weekends helping out at Crowley's Ridge Raceway, where he could always be found, rolling up his sleeves and pitching in. But Steve wasn't just a hard worker; he was a true public servant. He thrived in serving his community as a part-time police officer for the Marmaduke Police Department and a former Greene County Constable, where he embodied what it meant to protect and serve. Steve's passion for helping others resonated deeply, a legacy of service that has undoubtedly been passed down through his family.

Steve had personality like no other. His quick wit and ability to pull a prank or tell a joke always kept things lively. People would gravitate to Steve never knowing what was going to be said or done next. His love of banter was always great entertainment. He also had a passion for loud music. He loved insanely loud car audio and music. People knew when Steve was near because they could hear his music from blocks away before he arrived. He took pride in being able to bounce a quarter off his Jeep with the "bump" of the beat coming from his speakers.

Outside of work, Steve enjoyed the great outdoors-hunting and fishing were his cherished pastimes, and he loved nothing more than gathering with friends and family to share tales of his adventures. He was a classic storyteller, filled with laughter and warmth that drew people in.

Steve will be remembered fondly by his sons, Dustin Estes and Taylor Potter, as well as his beloved grandchildren, Maya Potter, Liam Potter, and Noah Jines-Potter. He is also survived by his sisters, JoAnn Whitley, Judy Potter-Maurizi, Angie Spencer, Cindy Weaver, and Ellen Mireles, as well as close friend, Jennifer Dodd, whom he fondly referred to as his "main squeeze" and Marty Maurizi, who was the brother he never had. Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Teddy Joe Potter and Yvonne Martin; his wife, Vanessa Potter; and nephew, Mitchell Luttrell.

To honor Steve's life, a memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Heath Funeral Home. A time of visitation will follow the service until 1:00 PM.

Honorary pallbearers will include the hardworking crew at Rudi's Towing, Jason Bristow, the dedicated members of the Marmaduke Police Department, and Pete Higdon, who stood by Steve through thick and thin.

Steven Dwayne Potter was a man who truly knew how to serve-his legacy of dedication, laughter, and love will live on through all of us who were fortunate enough to know him. Rest in peace, Steve; you will be dearly missed.
