Steven Reid Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Wallingford Funeral Home - Wallingford on Feb. 26, 2026.
Steven P. Reid, 67, of Wallingford, passed away on Monday, February 23, 2026 at Midstate Medical Center with his loving family by his side. He was born on March 3, 1958 in New Haven, son of the late Dorothy (Washburn) and John T. Reid II. He was the devoted husband of Nancy (Szilvasy) Reid.

Steve moved with his family from Hamden to Wallingford when he was 11 years old. He was married to his high school sweetheart for 46 years. Together, they raised three sons. Steve was dedicated to his family, especially cherishing his four grandchildren who were the light of his world, and he loved nothing more than being with them.

Raising a young family, Steve volunteered as youth hockey coach and was registrar for the Wallingford Hawks. He was also active in youth baseball as a parent. He was a lifelong sports fan, and found great joy letting his sons pursue their interests in youth sports. He loved UConn women's basketball, the Boston Red Sox and the NY Giants. He enjoyed camping, boating, hiking, jogging and skiing with his family and friends.

Steve worked for 50 years in the graphic arts industry as a color scanner operator at Colotone, Gamma One and Vertis and later on in manufacturing as a senior customer service representative at Brook & Whittle. He made many good friends along the way.

Steve is survived by his wife, Nancy; his three sons, Steven Jr., Matthew (Jessica), and Nicholas; his grandchildren, Isabella, Claudia, Wesley and Celina; his sisters, Robin Reid, Karen (Roger) Gilmore; his brother, John (Skip) T. Reid III; his sister-in-law, Maryann (Rick) Demers; his brothers-in-law, Robert Szilvasy and Michael (Karen) Szilvasy; his nieces, nephews and cousins, all who will miss him very much. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his beautiful sister-in-law, Barbara (Skip) Reid; and his loving brother-in-law, John Szilvasy.

His family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday March 4, 2026, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 N. Main St. Ext., Wallingford, CT. A celebration of his life will commence in the funeral home at 7 p.m. Interment will be private in St. John Cemetery, Wallingford, CT. In lieu of flowers, his family requests donations in his honor be made to the American Heart Association or to the charity of one's choice.
