I will never forget presenting research to Dr Sahn when I was a Fellow in 1995. He was so encouraging to me. The effect that has on a young doctor is tremendous. I know Steve had the same effect on thousands of young doctors. He will be so missed. I practice Pulmonary Medicine today in the shadow of Dr Sahn.

Steven Sahn was and is a giant in the medical world upon whose shoulders so many of us who he trained stand when we practice medicine. You can't replace him, you can only hope to emulate him in some small way.

It is problematic to put into words the influence that Steve had on my life and career. He was a dear friend. He is more responsible for my career success than any other person. I miss you, Steve.

Our deepest condolences to the entire Sahn family. Dr Sahn's legacy will survive into perpetuity. He was a brilliant clinician, fiercely competitive, and driven to succeed; however, his greatest attribute (among the plethora that he had) was his passion for life (his family, medicine, and his beloved sports teams). He made all of us not just better doctors, but, more importantly, better people. He helped greatly shape the evolution of my soul, and he will never be forgotten. Although he passed too soon, we were all extremely fortunate to have had him in our lives. He deeply touched everybody who interacted with him, on any level, which placed him in the rarefied position that he so rightfully deserved. May he rest in peace and may his beautiful family draw strength from the impeccable life that he lived!!

Claire,

What an honor it has been to have known Steve! I especially appreciate the relationship he and Julie forged as there were likely not many who could have performed to his expectations. They were definitely a pair! His passion for his work will forever be etched in my memory. There are many good ones but the great are few and far between. Steve was great! My love to you and yours!

How little did I know when I visited you and presented you with a "golfing pillow with the 18th green" on it (also the number of your room) would be my last time seeing you! You gave me a hug which I will cherish for the rest of my life! Your stay was short, but look how much you accomplished. May you rest in peace for always!! You and Claire's FRIEND, Ida

I believe I was his third female pulmonary fellow. He was an excellent teacher and mentor. As a Kentucky fan, he and I always had a great time talking basketball. He is irreplaceable

Dr. Sahn was one of my greatest mentors. He spent hours with me, teaching a lawyer about pulmonary medicine and what a great teacher he was. It was always a delight to have a case I could work on with him. I am better having known him. My sincerest condolences to his family and friends.

Dr Sahn (no matter how many years I have been out of training, I could never call him Steve) was not only an integral part of the physician I became but also the person I am today. Although his accomplishments are myriad and CV is clearly too long to be adequately summarized in a few paragraphs, I think that the amazing training that he provided his fellows over the last three decades is his greatest legacy. I, my colleagues, and our patients are forever indebted to him.
