Steven E. Sander, 68, of New Douglas, IL, passed away on Monday, October 20, 2025, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, IL.
He was born on July 24, 1957, in Highland, IL, to Orville and Jean (nee Tobin) Sander. On September 1, 2006, he married Brenda Kaye Long, in Edwardsville, IL.
Steven was a member of Salem United Church of Christ in Alhambra, IL, and Teamsters Local 525. He enjoyed his time farming at Ulrich Farms. He loved International Harvester, “If it ain’t red, it ain’t in the shed”. Steven enjoyed being outdoors on his side by side, spending time with his grandchildren, his dog, Coupper, making his famous biscuits and gravy breakfast for his family, playing euchre, and his time at the doghouse.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Orville and Jean Sander.
Steven is survived by his wife, Brenda Kaye Sander, New Douglas, IL; children, Emily (Matthew) Flynn, St. Louis, MO, Chelsa (Stephen) Pruden, Staunton, IL, Matthew (Erin) Scarborough, Staunton, IL, Carla (Keith) Lively, Collinsville, IL, and Nathan Scarborough, Litchfield, IL; grandchildren, Ella Flynn, Lucas Flynn, Rosalee Pruden, Leo Scarborough, Oscar Scarborough, Theeo Scarborough, Neeah Scarborough, Maddeson Sparks, Mya Lively, Nicholas Scarborough, Taylor Scarborough, Gunner Scarborough, and Reese Scarborough; sisters, Beverly (John) Willett and Nancy (Douglas) Heidbrink; many nieces and nephews; and his buddy, Coupper.
Memorial donations may be made to Salem UCC or to Salem UCC Cemetery.
Visitation: Sunday, October 26, 2025, from 2:00 to 5:00 pm, and Monday, October 27, 2025, from 10:00 to 11:00 am, at Salem United Church of Christ, Alhambra, IL
