Steven “Steve” Douglas Shawver, 68, passed away peacefully on the morning of October 3, 2025 surrounded by his loved ones in Augusta, Georgia. Steve was born in Rockford, Illinois before he moved to Augusta, Georgia in 1983 where he met Cindy who he has been married to for forty years now.
Steve was a musician who played guitar with his band, Pegasus, for many years before moving to Georgia where he began a career in commercial plumbing building hospitals. He worked for Crothall Corporation Healthcare Facilities Management in Piedmont Hospital. Steve was a longtime member of Warren Baptist where he served in nursery to preschool ministry with his wife. He enjoyed being involved with his son and children’s church activities. Steve loved his Sunday morning Bible Study class where he was a regular attendee. He was always passionate about helping other people.
Steve leave behind his wife, Cindy; their three children, Niki (Kenneth) Grier of North Augusta, South Carolina, Caitlin (Eric) Sunderman of Sandy Springs, Georgia, and Brandon (Shannon) Shawver of Magnolia, Texas; and grandchildren, Ava and Sophia Grier of North Augusta, South Carolina.
Steve’s legacy of his strong faith in Jesus Christ, his joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control will live on through his family.
Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, October 15, 2025 at Warren Baptist Church Chapel 3203 Washington Rd, Augusta, Georgia. Visitation will be held at 10am followed by a Celebration of Life at 11am.
