Steven “Steve” Lynn Sines reunited with his wife, Deborah, in heaven on September 6, 2025, after passing in his home in McCook, NE, at the age of 73.

Steve was born to parents John C. and Lois M. (McNiell) Sines in McCook, NE on April 28, 1952. He grew up in McCook with his brothers Michael and Gary. In his younger years, Steve was an Eagle Scout and enjoyed hanging out with his brothers. Steve graduated from McCook High School with the class of 1970.

Steve worked as an engineer for the BSNF railroad for over 40 years until his retirement at age 63.

Steve met Deborah in McCook at a social gathering. The two were married in Cancun, Mexico on April 28, 1997. They were together for almost 20 years until Deborah’s passing in 2016.

Steve will be remembered for his great sense of humor and how he would drop anything to go help a friend. He enjoyed hanging out with friends and taking long road trips for leisure or to help a friend. Steve would give a hand to his brother Gary with flying hot air balloons, and his brother Michael with building log cabins. He loved Jeopardy and would go down to the coffee shop to quiz friends. Steve was an avid reader and was a member of Memorial Methodist Church.

Those left to celebrate Steven’s life are his children, Jill Howard of McCook, Jason (Pam) Oiler of Cheyenne, WY, Jon (Amber) Oiler of McCook; grandchildren, Kaeden, Noah, Andrew (Karlin), Abigail, Russell, Claribel, Anna, and Christopher; brothers, Michael (Ann) Sines of Pierre, SD and Gary (Janice) Sines of Jefferson City, MO; cousin, Brenda McNeill Smith of Belleville, KS; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.

Steven is preceded in death by his parents, wife Deborah Lee Sines, and daughter Jennifer Oiler.

In lieu of flowers, memorials contributions are suggested to the McCook Public Library, 801 Norris Ave, McCook, NE 69001 for Steve's love of reading.

There will be a memorial service in Steve's honor on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at 10:30 AM at the Memorial Methodist Church in McCook, NE, with Pastor Jeff Kelley officiating.

An inurnment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in McCook, NE.
