Captain Steven G. Sperry, Caribou Fire Department - Retired, died October 17, 2025 in Presque Isle following a brief illness at the age of 73. Steve was born in Caribou, May 10, 1952 the son of the late Gardner and Dolores (Fournier) Sperry. He was a graduate of Caribou High School, where he was a member of the 1969 State Championship Varsity Basketball team. Captain Sperry dedicated 47 years of distinguished service to the Caribou Fire and Ambulance Department. A highly respected leader, Captain Sperry served as a mentor and role model to generations of firefighters. His commitment, integrity, and passion for the job left a lasting legacy that continues to inspire all who had the honor of working alongside him. He also enjoyed trips to the Allagash, and many fishing and hunting trips with friends and family. His sons enjoyed their yearly NASCAR weekend and family camping trips. Following his retirement, he spent several winters in South Carolina where he made wonderful friends. He will be remembered as a loving, generous man who loved to laugh.

Steve was predeceased by his wife, Brenda L. Sperry in 2010. He is survived by two sons, Jason Sperry and wife Chelsea of Windham, Scott Sperry and wife Melanie of Casco, his beloved grandchildren, Dylan, Parker, Emma and Paige Sperry, his siblings, Mitchell Sperry and wife Carlene of Auburn, Marsha Boulier and husband Mike of Caribou, Carolyn Chapman and husband Roger of Houlton. Steve is also survived by his companion of 15 years, Alma Jackson, and her family whom he thought of as his own, her daughter, Brittany Bowmaster and husband Pete, and their children, Owen and Ruthie Bowmaster all of Caribou.

Friends may call at the Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir Street, Caribou, on Friday, October 24, 2025 from 6PM until 8PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10AM on Saturday, October 25, 2025 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 1143 Van Buren Road, Caribou. Interment will be in the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. A time of continued fellowship and refreshments will be held following the service in the church hall. Those who wish to contribute in memory of Steve are asked to do so through the Aroostook House of Comfort.
