Steven Swift Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Directors - Midland Chapel on Feb. 10, 2026.
Steven Ray Swift, a beloved son, father, partner, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away on February 5, 2026, in Midland, Michigan. He was born on March 24, 1959, to the proud parents Dale and Leona (Baker) Swift-Hiltz.

Steve led a remarkable life, leaving behind a legacy that will be cherished by all who knew him. As a retired member of the Carpenters Union, he showcased his dedication and skills in his craft. Steven also proudly served in the Army, where he was a part of the esteemed 101st Airborne division and displayed his prowess as a golden glove boxer during his time stationed in Korea.

Beyond his professional achievements, Steve had a passion for the great outdoors. An avid fisherman and hunter, he found solace and joy in nature. Whether spending time with his family, camping under the stars, or exploring the wilderness, Steve's love for outdoor adventures was truly infectious.

Steve's memory will live on through his family and loved ones. He is survived by his mother Leona Hiltz, children, Jeremy (Molly) Swift, Steven Swift, and Stephanie Nelson, and his cherished long-time partner, Sandy Swift. Also survived by his brothers, Gary (Astacia) Swift and Charles Swift, nephews, Jason Swift and Joe Lewis, nieces, Stacey Swift-Thrush and Angie Herring, 4 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father Dale Swift, daughter Crystal Bacon, and sister-in-law Deb Swift.

Though we mourn the loss of Steve, we also celebrate the laughter, love, and memories he shared with those around him. His light-hearted spirit, kind-hearted nature, and humorous charisma will forever be remembered and treasured. Rest in peace, Steve Ray Swift. Your legacy of strength, adventure, and love will remain alive in our hearts forever.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, February 13, 2026, at the Sanford American Legion Post #443, 2080 N. Meridian Rd., Sanford, MI.
