Steven "Stupid" Thompson, 69, of Mason City passed away at his home with his family by his side on Saturday, August 3, 2024. He was born on April 4, 1955 in Peoria to Howard and Wilma (Dodson) Thompson. He married the love of his life, Pamela Thompson, on September 12, 1975.
Steve is survived by his wife Pam, only son Chad (April) Thompson of Mason City, 2 granddaughters: Jesse (Grant) Daugherty and Jenah Thompson, 2 great-grandsons: Haylen and Walker, 2 sisters: Lori (Billy) Lemme, Lisa Thompson Rabbe of Mason City and many nieces and nephews.
He worked for Turris Coal for 18 years, owned Stupid's Bar in Mason City for 14 years, and drove a truck for Pat Lee Trucking for over 20 years. For many years he volunteered for the Mason City Fire Department. He enjoyed boating, traveling, a cold Bud Light and most of all spending time with his granddaughters and great-grandsons.
Per Steve's wishes cremation rites have been accorded and a Celebration of Life will be held on August 24, 2024 at the Mason City Fire Department in Mason City beginning at 1:00 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to the Mason City Fire Department. Online condolences can be left at www.hurleyfh.com. Hurley Funeral Home in Mason City is in charge of the arrangements.
