Steven Paul Tobler, age 72, a long time Sachse, TX resident passed away into eternal life on September 13, 2022. He was born April 9, 1950 in Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. He is preceded in death by his mother Hazel Vivian Hatcher and father Paul Robert Tobler. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Elizabeth Tobler, three children: Rachael Colon, Christian Tobler, Steven Pearson and brother Daniel Tobler. He also leaves behind seven grandchildren. Steven served in the Vietnam war from 1970-1971 with Blackhawk, B Troop, 1st Squadron, 1st Cavalry Regiment armor division, Fort Meade, MD. He survived the war in Vietnam; however, he lost the war with Agent Orange and succumbed to cancer. He received honorable discharge as an SP4 and was awarded the following: National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, Army Commendation Medal w/Oak Leaf Cluster, 2 O/S Bars, Expert Badge Rifle M14, Sharpshooter Badge Rifle M16, Vietnam Campaign Medal. He was a former Sachse City Councilman from 1988-1990 and served with a passion while working for its citizens. He loved to make people laugh and knew no strangers. He enjoyed his time spent with the Boy Scouts of America and family. His cooking will be missed greatly, he was an excellent cook while camping with the Scouts and at home. Christmas was his favorite time of year and he spent time donating and helping others. He even built a Santa's Workshop and would sit outside dressed like Santa handing out candy canes, the children would dress up like Elves and his wife would be Mrs. Clause. Funeral arrangements provided by Charles W Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 2925 5th Street, Sachse, TX Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free. I'm following the path God has chosen for me. I took His hand when I heard Him call. I turned my back and left it all.
