Steven Lee Tubbs, 80, of Cleveland, passed away Wednesday, July 23,2025. Mr. Tubbs was born June 12, 1945 in the town of Sonoma, Sonoma County, California, the seventh and last child to the late Dewey Clyde Tubbs and Ellen Mae Griffin Tubbs, both of Alabama. In addition to parents, he was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.
Mr. Tubbs served ten years Enlisted and Commissioned Service in the U.S. Army, attaining the rank of Captain. He served as a Company Commander in Vietnam in the late 60's, where he earned the Bronze Star Medal. During his final years in the Army, Mr. Tubbs was a Warranted Contracting Officer, procuring military electronics items and systems. After his return to civilian life, Mr. Tubbs worked 39 years for various US aerospace companies, as a Contracts Manager/Director for 37 of those years.
Following retirement from Northrop Grumman Corp. in 2012, Mr. Tubbs and wife Susan relocated from Florida to Cleveland to enjoy this beautiful area and it's conservative lifestyle. Steve loved God, his family, and his work. His free-time passions were bass fishing and motorcycle riding in the mountains.
Steve is survived by his beloved wife and best friend, Susan Mary Dence Tubbs of Cleveland, son and daughter-in-law, Jaymison and Kimberly Tubbs of Montana, daughter and son-in-law, Dannielle and Robert Dodson of Montana, son Christopher of Florida, and daughter Melissa of Washington state. He is additionally survived by five grandchildren and in excess of twenty nephews, nieces and their families.
Mr. Tubbs will be interred at the Georgia National Cemetery, Canton. Arrangements by McDonald Family Funeral Homes in Cleveland.
