Steven “Steve” Edward Wallerich, age 70, died on Saturday, May 17, 2025. A memorial service will be held at 11 AM on Friday, July 18, at Bayview Freeborn Funeral Home. Chaplain Don Malinsky will be officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service.

Steve was born in Wabasha, MN on January 19, 1955, to Dick and Dorothy (Sexton) Wallerich. He grew up with his six siblings in Wabasha and graduated from Wabasha High School. After graduating, Steve attended the University of Minnesota-Duluth. On September 25, 1982, he was united in marriage to Peggy Evans. The couple had two children and made their home in Geneva. Steve worked for Crown Auto, NAPA, and Streater, before retiring from Trails as a service writer.

Throughout his life, Steve enjoyed cars and attended the Twins Cities Auto Show every year with his son, Kyle. He also enjoyed classic rock and listening to his Pink Floyd records. Steve loved to take road cruises in his Cadillac and enjoyed getting lost and finding his way home. Steve also enjoyed riding his motorcycle and going on rides with his daughter, Jenny. In his free time, Steve loved watching the Minnesota Twins, Minnesota Vikings and History Channel. He also enjoyed playing cards, especially Cribbage and 500 and attempting to beat his daughter in their daily Wordle and Mini-Crossword battles. Peggy and Steve took yearly trips to Duluth to celebrate their anniversary. His greatest love was spending time with his family and playing with his grandsons.

Steve is survived by his wife of 42 years, Peggy; daughter, Jenny (Andrew) Graupmann; son, Kyle (Erin) Wallerich; grandchildren, Patrick, Matthew, and Eleanor; siblings Mary (Jim) Doyle, Tom (Heidi) Wallerich, Jim (Michele) Wallerich, Kathy Wallerich, Linda (Harry) Nelson, Jeff (Linda) Wallerich; along with his nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents.
